The shower was Gone with The Wind Themed which I adored! They know me well!

Dana Wyatt first surprised me with centerpiece picture frames of our costumed civil war-era adventures.

We had some amazing food like these cucumber salad sandwiches with Scarlett and Rhett toothpicks and petite fours:

and some decoration pictures:

We also tried out the photobooth I built with my Dad with a greenscreen background of Tara:

A huge THANK YOU to my amazing hostesses. I love all of you so much and appreciate everything you have done for me! I’ll never forget this fun shower!
-Cress

We can check them off our list! The wonderful Jeni from Simply Stated Creative on Etsy assisted me with this project using our awesome engagement pictures from Chris Octa of Timing + Heart photography. We used Jeni’s design with my crazy idea of putting a mini envelope holding a tiny magnet on the back. Jeni sent me the customized file, I had them printed and my wonderful Matron of Honor, Dana, helped me assemble the cards. Done!

I never miss out on a reason to celebrate with the girls. :)

The first bachelorette party was to Orlando, Florida to visit Disney and the new Harry Potter theme park.

These were the special “Owl Post” Harry Potter invitation packs:

Each “Owl Post” had a Harry Potter Eye mask, luggage tags, theme park lanyards and a schedule of the weekend.

and a close up of the lanyards/luggage tags:

We had such a great time in Orlando. The icing on the cake was finding out from Chris that I had passed the Tennessee bar exam while at Disney Hollywood Studios! W00000T! Once Disney cast members found out they made me a celebratory cake and I got a golden Fast Pass to use on any ride! Disney is so magical! What an unforgettable trip.

Sorry I don’t have many pictures of Harry Potter world because it was damp and rainy the entire time. But we all looked super cute in our rain gear :)

We also went to Medieval Times while in Orlando. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to sew princess dresses in less than 72 hours. I love a challenge! People actually thought we were part of the show = WIN!

and our knight (who also won!) bestowed me with a sash:

As if one Bachelorette party wasn’t enough, I flew to Seattle to visit my Future Sister, Dana, for part 2 later that month.

It was amazing! Dana showed me around downtown, Bainbridge Island (I found a quilt shop) and we went on a Duck tour. We did tons of shopping (i.e. Nordstrom Rack) and ate some very tasty food. Nom.

Speaking of delicious noms, this is a gluten free monster cookie from a bakery in Pike Market. I need to move to Seattle to be near this cookie permanently :) Thank you #Future Sister for a fabulous time!

A big thank you to everyone who made all of this possible! What a way to celebrate our upcoming marriage and becoming an official attorney with parties in two states. I am so blessed to have friends like ya’ll :)

-Cress

We rented a tandem bicycle from Skate Escape (riding this bike is harder than it looks) and explored some of our favorite areas of the park.

I also made a quilt for our pictures with our initials and wedding date embroidered onto the top. We had to have a nod to New Zealand with a stuffed Kiwi and various books such The Hobbit, Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire and my favorite, Gone with the Wind. :)

You can view more pictures on Timing + Heart Blog and in our photo gallery.

THANKS OCTA from Timing + Heart photography! We love our pictures and had a great time!

We asked that all guests come in 1950’s attire and they did not disappoint. We had some highly original costumes!

As some of you may know, I love sewing costumes as a hobby. I design and create sci-fi costumes, Civil War reenactment costumes and the occasional renaissance fair costume. So I naturally jumped at the challenge of 1950‘s period costumes for this party.

The Inspiration for my dress:
I love the “Beautiful Blonde Pineapple” dress that Frenchy wore to the prom in Grease and I based my dress off this design. I also added a matching bolero from a dress I saw on the Lawrence Welk show.

Best picture of the Pineapple dress from Grease and it’s a Barbie.

Chris’s Plaid Jacket:
This jacket was inspired by Buddy Holly. It was such a pain to create since Chris wasn’t around for fittings. I vowed after making this not to make menswear again!

The Waitress Costumes:
We had some wonderful friends to volunteer to serve for the party. I wanted to make these aprons in appreciation. The pattern is a PDF vintage pattern from La Prairie Lady on Etsy and they were very easy to make. I altered the pattern by adding buttons, a diner hat and a petticoat of netting under the scalloped skirt.

Poodle Skirts and Pill Box Hats:
I ended up making two poodle skirts for Chris’s Mom and my Grandma. They were quick and easy! The pillbox hats originated as buckram frames from Theater House and then were spray painted and trimmed.

Vendor List:
Venue: Paris Henry County Heritage Center in Paris, Tennessee
Murder Mystery Game Creator: http://www.dinnerandamurder.com/
Decorations: Cressie Teague with set-up assistance by Dana Wyatt
Photography: Jennifer Fox Photography
Food: My mother, grandmother and aunts provided all of the food except for the cake (http://www.ewjames.com) and petit fors (http://www.peggyannbakery-hsv.com/)
Invitations: Iphoto/Apple Printing
1956 Chevy: Provided by wonderful family friends
